Demographic Information for Albany Park and Surrounding Communities

The Albany Park Neighborhood Council is active and has member institutions in four Chicago community areas: Albany Park, Irving Park, North Park and West Ridge.  Below is the demographic information for these community areas.

Albany Park

Quick Facts:

• Albany Park has the largest percentage of foreign born residents of any community area in Chicago and has the fourth largest foreign born population at 30,110.
• Albany Park continues to be a port of entry for immigrants from across the world and is located in the third most diverse zip code in the entire United States.
• Over forty languages are spoken in the area’s public schools.
• Albany Park's total population is 57,866 people.  The general demographic breakdown for the area is 46% Hispanic, 18% Asian, 27% White,  4% African American, and 4% Multiracial.

West Ridge

Quick Facts:

• West Ridge is best known for Devon Avenue and its Indian and Pakistani restaurants and shops.  It is, however, also a very diverse immigrant community with 33,391 residents being foreign born.
• West Ridge has the largest population of Indians, Koreans, Pakistanis, Russians, Romanians, and Arabs of the seventy seven community areas in Chicago.
• West Ridge has a total population of 73,199 and the the general demographic breakdown for the area is 49% White, 25% Asian, 15% Hispanic, 7% African American,  and 5% Mulitiracial.
