On November 19th at Monestero’s Restuarant, community members and allies will gather to celebrate APNC’s history of making positive change in the community over the past ten years.
Just a few of our accomplishments over the past year include:
*Organizing to ensure that rental buildings impacted by foreclosure remain as affordable housing in the community, and that tenants are able to stay in their homes
*Secured a set of commitments from Swedish Covenant Hospital to improve the provision of charity care to the uninsured
*APNC student leaders organized in the midst of the budget crisis to restore CPS funding for youth-led initiatives to increase graduation rates and have already shown an increase in freshman on-track rates at Roosevelt High School as a result of their work
*APNC worked with groups from across the city to push for the creation of change policy so that 14 and 15 year olds could access a percentage of the 5,000 youth jobs available this past summer
At the banquet, APNC will highlight the successful efforts over the past year of youth leaders and educators working together to increase graduation rates of CPS students.
